Rianne Pictures celebrates it's 3rd birthday

Happy 3rd Birthday to Rianne Pictures!

Three years ago today Rianne Pictures was launched, our independent film production company. Founder Caris Rianne talks about the journey it has taken during that time.

'Today is a very special day for me as it marks three years since I started film making with Rianne Pictures and made a big step in my journey towards my dream career of writing, directing and producing films.

I feel incredibly fortunate to have worked on eight films during that time and formed a team of over eighty people throughout the production of those films. My aim was to focus on female lead roles and see more women behind the camera. With an ever growing female based crew and our projects featuring women in leading roles, I am so happy that I have achieved this aim, even in a small measure compared to what is possible in the future for Rianne Pictures.

In 2013 I made our first short film Sister with just my best friend and younger sister, a year later and our first feature film Demi had a busy set full of wonderfully talented and dedicated people, plus a post production team who are worth their weight in gold . Our films have handled subjects such as depression, homophobia, parental divorce and discrimination giving a voice to those who may feel alone with their troubles.

With thirteen award nominations collected for Demi and Extra Time along with three awards wins for Best Feature Film, Best Writing and the Royal Reel Award from the Canadian Independent Film Festival we have achieved so much more than we expected in our ‘toddler’ years as a production house. Not to mention making the selection lists at four international film festivals, our short film Extra Time is actually still going around the festival circuit too.

With our upcoming documentary Like a Girl arriving online next month and three projects in development for 2017 we are eager to continue this early success and keep working our way into the heavily male led industry.

Still from our upcoming documentary Like a Girl, coming online soon.

That leaves me to say thank you to everyone who worked with us, everyone who watched our films, everyone who donated to our funding campaigns and everyone who believed in our first little short film made on a cheap digital camera, we have so much more to offer and we can't wait to show you what 2017 has to hold for us
